Gobi Argali hunting in Mongolia

Gobi Argali inhabits mountains Gobi Desert of Mongolia and China. Mountains here are not high. They are rolling hills up to 1,600 m / 4,800 feet. A Gobi Argali hunting was always interesting for lovers of mountain hunts. The average size of Gobi Argali horns is 41 - 46 inches with the base diameter of 14 - 16 inches. Gobi Argali horns are less heavy in the base and shorter than those of Altai Argali ones.
In 2006 our client Harry Hansen (USA) got a new Gobi Argali record scored 226 3/8. And surely  Mongolia  is a great destination to visit and to see one of the most oldest culture of nomads.

Hunting season

The season runs from the 01-st of July to the 01-st of October.

Argali hunting tips

Gobi Argali hunt is done by spot and stalk while observing Argali feeding and rest areas. The most preferable hunting time are morning and evenings.  Nevertheless the hunters leave the camp for a whole day using a 4x4 quality vehicle. Local guides normally know sheep location very well. Anyway  all hidden places of the vast area are to be checked in order to find the best possible trophy.  You can add to your tag a Gobi Ibex.

Hunting Base Camps

The camps are traditional Asian yurts.    They are warm, clean and comfortable with separate areas for dining, bathing and sleeping. Electricity is supplied by generating sets. Every camp has a cook, a few assistances and an English interpreter. You find very good food and quality service.

How to get there

You fly to Ulaanbaatar (UB) via Frankfurt, Moscow or Seoul, South Korea. Our representative meets you upon arrival and assists through the customs. Then we take you to the hotel. Next morning you will be transferred by comfortable vehicle to the hunting camp in the southern part of Mongolia, transfer takes about 10 hours.

Weather in Mongolia

Average temperatures in July and August are ranging from 50 and 80°F / +10 and +26°C. It is always cold at night due to the high elevation. Mongolia is known as country of 255 sunny days per year and that is why it is called the Land of Blue Sky. Snow can be expected at the tops in the last decade of September.
