Republic of Kazakstan is a hunting paradise with great Tian Shan wapiti and Mid-Asian Ibex hunting. The Tian Shan wapiti is the largest of the Asian wapitis and a magnificent trophy. The antlers are massive and similar in form to those of North American wapitis. Also Mid-Asian Ibex can be harvested as additional trophy. Hunting areas are located in Eastern Kazakhstan bordering with China. PROFIHUNT Ltd has been guiding Maral Stag hunts for almost 20 years with over 90% success.

Hunting season

Hunting season is from the 1st of September to the 1st of December. Bugle Maral hunts run from the 15th of September to the 05 th of October. It is not only the most exciting but also the most successful time to hunt. September, October are the best time for Maral & Mid-Asian Ibex or Siberian Roe deer hunts combination.

Maral hunting tips

Bugling for a mature elk is one of the greatest hunting trills. It is not common to hear six or nine Marals calling at the same time. Hunting is based from horse back due to the immense amount of country to be covered to hunt the animals successfully. Expect extensive horseback riding 8 – 10 hours a day and considerable walking. Some knowledge and experience with horses and riding is a must.
A temporary tented camp is set up with the specific goal of hunting a particular animal or area. It usually takes at least one day to reach your spike camp. Elk is generally located on opened slopes of mountains at 8,000 – 8,500 feet / 2,500 – 2,800 m. Once the trophy is spotted you complete your stalk on foot. A prime hunting time is in the morning and then in the evening.

Hunting Base Camps

Camps are hunting cabins, tents or yurts, comfortable for two to three hunters. They are clean, warm and comfortable but have no modern conveniences. They are equipped with stoves and cots. There is separate large tent for dining and one for shower. The camps are located in mountain valleys at 3,000 – 4,000 feet / 1,000 – 1,300 m. Every camp has a cook who can offer you home style meals. You will find very good food and quality service. Electricity is supplied by generating sets.

How to get there

You arrive to Almaty on Lufthansa flight, via Frankfurt or on Turkish Airlines flight from Istanbul. Our representative meets you at the airport and assists through the customs. In the morning you will travel to the hunting area. Drive to the hunting areas lasts for 7-12 hours, depending on the area you hunt.
