There are 7 subspecies of snow sheep in the world Dall sheep and Stone sheep are located in USA and Canada. But the rest 5 of them: Kamchatka, Koryak, Okhotsk, Yakutia, Kolyma snow sheep are located in Russia.
ProfiHunt has a rich experience of hunting for all subspecies in Russia and will be glad to help you while collecting all of them. Kamchatka snow sheep inhabits the central part of the Kamchatka Peninsula (Russia). The average trophy size is 34-37 inches with occasional 40-inch ram taken. These sheep have the heaviest bases of all snow sheep of Asia. We do not promise you to see very many rams, but we strive to make your hunt successful. In some areas Kamchatka Brown Bear can be taken as additional trophy starting from the 20th of August. In the hunting season 2014 our German customer Dieter Pfannenstein shot an amazing ram which is a NEW World Record with fantastic SCI 179 3/8 “”scores.

As a service to our clients, we make all transportation arrangements, including air tickets and hotel reservations.  We also assist in the procurement of the required visa and firearm import permit.  You will be met by of our staff members upon your arrival at the airport in Moscow, or in Petropavlovsk and accompanied by one of our professional English-speaking hunters during your entire stay. Hunting season

The hunting season runs from August 1 to 20 September. The most of our hunts take place in August.  Snow sheep hunt can be combined nicely with Kamchatka Bear from the 20th of August.

Snow Sheep hunting tips

For the most part a backpack hunt is traditional and only in one of the  areas a  horseback hunt for Kamchatka sheep is available (Palana region). Each hunter normally will have one guide and on assistant. Backpack and lots of hard hunting on foot can be expected. Be in good shape. A temporary tented camp is set up with the specific goal of hunting a particular animal or area.

Hunting Base Camps

The camps are modern windproof tents. They are equipped with stoves and cots. There are one separate large tent for dining and one for shower. The camps are located in mountain valleys at 2,500-3,000 feet (800-1000 m). Every camp has a cook who can offer you home style meals. You will find very good food and quality service. Electricity is supplied by generating sets.

How to get there

The best way to get to Petropavlovsk from the US is a weekly direct flight from Anchorage. You will be met by our English-speaking representative at the airport Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy and assisted through the customs. Then you will be transferred to the hunting camp. The transportation to the hunting camp depends on the hunting area and includes in the price.

Weather in Kamchatka

In August during daylight hours the temperature is from 40°F / 15°C up to 50°F/ 25°C and during night from 32°F / 0°C up to 40°F / 10°C.
