Altai Ibex hunting in Mongolia

Mongolia has many different vegetation zones: steppe, desert, taiga forest and mountain desert steppe. That is why Mongolia holds a great diversity of animal life. There are ideal habitats for Altai Ibex and Gobi Ibex; Altai, Hangay and Gobi Argali; Black-tailed and White-tailed Gazelle, Wolf, Maral, Moose, Brown Bear, Siberian Roe deer and many others.
Altai Ibex inhabits Altai Mountains of western Mongolia. The average trophy size is 39 - 45 in/ 100-115 cm, with a number of trophies taken in excess of 50-53 inches / 120-135 cm. This hunt can be combined with Siberian Roe deer and Wolf.
| How to get there |
You fly to Ulaanbaatar (UB) via Frankfurt or Moscow or Seoul, South Korea. You are met by our representative, assisted through the customs and taken to hotel. Next morning you fly by “Fokker 50” to western Mongolia and then, are transferred to camp. |

The season is from the 1st of June to the 15th of November. |
| Hunting |
The hunting is done on foot using jeeps for transportation to the hunting area or on horse back. Ibexes are found in good numbers at 7,000-8,500 feet / 2,300-2,800 m. During the day you will explore the upper edges of the mountains, glassing the hillsides, feeding and resting areas. You will spot rams, evaluate their size, and then make the stalk. |
| Base Camps |
The camps are traditional Asian ger or yurts. They are warm, clean and comfortable with separate areas for dining, bathing and sleeping. Every camp has a cook and interpreter. You will find a very good food and a quality service. Electricity is supplied by generating sets. |
| Weather |
In June, July and August the weather is generally moderate, with temperatures ranging between 50 F and 80 F / 10 C and 27 C. Nights are always cool due to the high elevation. Mongolia is known as a country with 255 cloudless days each year and as the Land of Blue Sky. Snow can be expected at the tops in the last decade of September. |

Flight to Western part of Mongolia and transfer to the camp by jeep. Flight lasts for 3 hours. |
