There are 7 subspecies of snow sheep in the world Dall sheep and Stone sheep are located in USA and Canada. But the rest 5 of them: Kamchatka, Koryak, Okhotsk, Yakutia, Kolyma snow sheep are located in Russia.

Koryak Snow Sheep average size is 34-35 inches with occasional 40-inch ram taken. Sheep are found at 4,000–5,000 feet. In September sheep hunting can be combined with Kamchatka Brown Bear.

All hunting is conducted on foot. Normally two guides are provided per hunter. A great deal of walking and climbing is required. Be in good shape. A spike camp is a part of the hunt.

Hunting Base Camps

The camps are modern windproof tents. They are equipped with stoves and cots. There are one separate large tent for dining and one for shower. The camps are located in mountain valleys at 2,500-3,000 feet (800-1.000m). Every camp has a cook who can offer you home style meals. You will find very good food and quality service. Electricity is supplied by generating sets.

How to get there

The best and the quickest way to get to Petropavlovsk is a weekly direct flight from Anchorage.. You will be met by our representative at the airport and assisted through the customs. You stay overnight in Petropavlovsk. The next day you fly with a regular flight to Tilichiki and from there we charter you by a helicopter to the hunting area.

Weather in Russia

In August during daylight hours the temperature is from 40°F / 15°C up to 50°F/ 25°C and during night from 32°F / 0°C up to 40°F / 10°C.
