Kamchatka Snow Sheep hunting in Russia

OTHER Language PDF - French, German

Kamchatka snow sheep inhabits the central part of the Kamchatka Peninsula (Russia). The average trophy size is 34-37 inches with occasional 40-inch ram taken. These sheep have the heaviest bases of all snow sheep of Asia. We do not promise you to see very many rams, but we strive to make your hunt successful. In some areas Kamchatka Brown Bear can be taken as additional trophy starting from the 20 August.

How to get there As Magadan Airlines are not flying to Anchorage any more, the only possibility to get to Petropavlovsk is to fly via Moscow. You will be met by our English-speaking representative at the airport of your arrival and assisted through the customs. Then we take you to the hotel, or transfer to the internal airport for your flight Moscow – Petropavlovsk. It is a non-stop 9 hour flight. In Petropavlovsk you will be met at the airport and then chartered by helicopter to the hunting camp.
Hunting season The season is from August 1 to 20 September. Optimum hunting period is from the 1st of August to the 10th of September. Snow sheep hunting can be combined nicely with Kamchatka Bear from the 1st of September.
Hunting For the most part a backpack hunt is traditional and only in one area horseback hunt for Kamchatka sheep is available. Each hunter normally will have one guide and on assistant. Backpack and lots of hard hunting on foot can be expected. Be in good shape. A temporary tented camp is set up with the specific goal of hunting a particular animal or area.
Base Camps The camps are modern windproof tents. They are equipped with stoves and cots. There are one separate large tent for dining and one for shower. The camps are located in mountain valleys at 2,500-3,000 feet (800-1000 m). Every camp has a cook who can offer you home style meals. You will find very good food and quality service. Electricity is supplied by generating sets.
Weather In August During daylight hours the temperature is from 40 F / 15 C up to 50 F/ 25 C and during night from 32 F / 0 C up to 40 F / 10 C.
