Trans-Caspian Urial hunting in Turkmenistan

TRANS-CASPIAN is a rare representative of Urial family. Rams have a white bib and a long, white neck ruff. Adult rams weight up to 200 pounds. The specie can be hunted in Turkmenistan, we hunt Badkhyz and Kyzil-Jar reserves. Expect average trophy size – 33-34”, with occasional 35-38” rams taken.

In March 2003 our client Gordon N. Rockefeller took his 40-inches ram in Turkmenistan.

How to get there The most reliable way to get to Ashgabat is to use Turkish Airlines from Chicago or New York with overnight in Istanbul. Our representative meets upon arrival in Istanbul and Ashgabat and assists you to pass through customs. Then we take you to the hotel. In Turkey you may take you rifle with you to hotel.
Hunting season The season starts from October 1 to March 31, with the best period in October - December and February - March.
Hunting All transportations to the area are made by jeeps. The hunting is not difficult and done on foot.  One guide is supposed for every hunter one guide.
Base Camps During the hunt we accommodate you in simple wooden houses or abandoned Soviet Army barracks with beds or cots. You find fine but simple food with a lot of meet, fruit and vegetables. Expect spartan conditions of living. We can accommodate max 3 hunters per camp; group of 2 hunters is optimal.
Weather October-November, February – March. As usually it is sunny weather with occasional rains and fogs. Day time temperatures are 60-75F (15-20C), at night the temperature is 20-30F (-6-0C).

December – January, snow, fog and rain is possible in the mountains at this time.  Daily temperatures are 20-40 F (-7-5 C), night temperatures are 5-15 F (-15-9 C).
